We farm by choice.
It’s our passion.
It’s in our blood.
Four generations of our family have grown fruits & vegetables on Harvard land. See that young girl up there? Right now being the 5th generation is her dream. This isn’t a passing dream – she has been talking about this for almost 4 years now. She jumps at every opportunity to work with her dad, asking questions, and taking in everything he teaches her. At the end of each day they work together, he just beams with pride; gushing about how smart, and hard working she is. But owning and operating a farm in 2018 is no easy feat.
The hard truth is, generational farms across the country are dying. We have been struggling with rising operational costs every year, while seeing less of a return in our once thriving wholesale apple business. One of the best decisions we made, was starting our CSA program in 2012. Since then we have been working tirelessly to diversify our crops to meet the needs of our members, and build our community. We are eternally grateful for everyone that has cheered us on, and we appreciate your continued support. Because without it, we might have to make some hard decisions.
This is where we need your help…By shopping in our store, or joining one of our CSA programs, you are making an investment in local agriculture – an investment that gives you fresh fruits and vegetables, from our family to yours. The cost of a half share works out to be roughly $20 a week. That’s $20 a week for LOCAL produce, not produce that has traveled hundreds of miles to a grocery store.
We’re just 4 weeks away from the start of our boxed fruit & vegetable shares. With more of our produce making it’s way to our store in the next week. All members get a discount on Westward grown produce, and you can start using it even before our boxed shares begin!
We would love to sign up for your CSA thank you!
Thank you Birgitta – we’d love to have you as a CSA member!! I’ve reached out to you via email with more information on how to sign up!
Chris Green and family are the kindest of people. From the entire 2017 State Champion Bromfield Varsity Soccer Team, we encourage all to consider CSA sharing and purchasing local produce from Westward Orchards. Chris helped us last summer by donating tractor tires for training purposes, and we could’nt be more grateful. Please consider helping such a worthy family!
Thank you Jack for your kind words – it means a lot to all of us!
